San Luis Río Colorado producers and Sagarhpa plan 2026-2027 cycle

Agricultural producers in the San Luis Río Colorado valley are meeting with officials from the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food (Sagarhpa) to plan for the 2026-2027 agricultural cycle.

Discussions are focused on addressing challenges from previous cycles, specifically regarding microclimates. Officials noted that a lack of sufficient cold hours in warm microclimates has negatively impacted crop yields. To mitigate this, the state and federal government are investing in research for more resilient seed varieties and implementing demonstration plots to test different agricultural strategies.
