San Marino and Tuscan municipalities partner for spiritual tourism

An operational summit held at La Verna focused on developing spiritual tourism through a collaborative network between the Republic of San Marino and nine Tuscan municipalities. The meeting follows a memorandum of understanding signed in June between San Marino and the National Association of Nativity Scenes.

Participants included representatives from the San Marino State Secretariat for Tourism and officials from municipalities such as Castelfiorentino, Cerreto Guidi, Signa, Capraia e Limite, Casciana Terme Lari, Montaione, Montopoli in Valdarno, Palaia, and San Giovanni Valdarno. The goal is to move beyond individual local promotion toward shared cultural and landscape proposals.

Casciana Terme Lari highlighted its ‘Via dei Presepi’ (Way of the Nativity Scenes) as a model for slow spiritual tourism. For the 2025 edition, the initiative mapped 361 nativity scenes along a 30-kilometer itinerary, showcasing local traditions, art, and community heritage.
