San Marino approves tax incentives for sports and public property
The Grand and General Council of San Marino has passed a law in its second reading to introduce tax incentives aimed at supporting sporting events, infrastructure, and the redevelopment of public real estate.
The legislation seeks to foster a public-private synergy by encouraging private investment in projects of collective interest. Under the new framework, sports federations can submit projects for significant events, with a selection process identifying up to five projects annually. Donors can receive full tax deductions on contributions up to 5,000 euros for individuals and up to 50,000 euros for legal entities.
A similar mechanism will apply to the redevelopment of public buildings used for sports. The State Congress will identify eligible construction projects, offering tax credits and deductions to reward the contributions of citizens and businesses. To ensure transparency, the law prohibits donors from receiving material compensation, limiting returns to institutional, communicative, or informative recognition.
Secretary of State Rossano Fabbri noted that the measure aims to attract resources for infrastructure without placing an additional burden on the national budget, providing necessary support to local federations and clubs.
