San Marino celebrates National Day and Anniversary of Foundation

The Republic of San Marino will celebrate its National Day and Anniversary of Foundation on September 3, 2026. The festivities include a series of religious, historical, and musical events.

Religious ceremonies will begin at the Basilica del Santo with a Solemn Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, followed by a procession with the Relic of the Saint. Historical traditions include the ‘Lettura del Bando dei Balestrieri’ and the ‘Palio delle Balestre Grandi’ at the Cava dei Balestrieri.

The celebrations feature a historical parade with musicians and flag-wavers, a concert by the Republic of San Marino Military Band featuring Valentina Monetta, and a traditional large-scale tombola. The evening will conclude with a concert by Marina Rei at Campo Bruno Reffi.
