San Marino approves hunting agreement with Marche Region

The Congress of State of San Marino has approved a memorandum of understanding with the Marche Region of Italy regarding wildlife management and hunting activities. This agreement, proposed by Secretary of State Matteo Ciacci, replaces a 2005 provincial-level agreement with a more robust regional framework.

A key benefit for Sammarinese hunters is that, starting in 2027, the regional concession tax will allow them to hunt in Italian territory without additional costs or increased bureaucracy. The protocol also establishes technical and scientific cooperation, wildlife monitoring, and operator training.

In other news, commemorative stamps honoring the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi will be issued on October 4. The release includes a celebratory sheet produced jointly by the Vatican City State, the Republic of San Marino, and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. The stamps feature Giotto’s fresco of Saint Francis and a contemporary representation of the Canticle of the Creatures.
