San Marino commission discusses road safety and healthcare reforms
The San Marino Territory and Health Commission recently met to address several pressing local issues, including road safety, urban development, and oncological prevention. State Secretary for Territory Matteo Ciacci highlighted the dangerous conditions on the superhighway, noting that pedestrian crossings pose significant risks.
The government's plan to improve safety includes installing more resistant barriers, enhancing lighting, securing bus stops, and revising pedestrian crossings. A primary goal is to replace existing crossings with underpasses or overpasses at approximately twenty critical points along the 8.5-kilometer route. Testing on traffic dividers is expected following the Dogana underpass project between late 2024 and 2027, with major funding scheduled for next year.
Additional urban projects discussed include the restoration of the Reffi mill and the development of an underground parking facility in Montegiardino, which will include pedestrianizing the square and creating social spaces.
