San Marino Council rejects petition for former Banca CIS building

The Grand and General Council of San Marino has officially rejected an Istanza d’Arengo (petition) regarding the future use of the former Banca CIS building in Piazza Bertoldi. The petition, signed by approximately 300 citizens, requested that the building be repurposed to serve the community of the Castello di Serravalle.

Proponents argued that the building would provide much-needed space for the Castello Giunta to operate, as current facilities face issues with accessibility and capacity. Additionally, the community hoped the site's parking facilities could be utilized to free up the main square for pedestrians, children, and local social initiatives. Despite support from the Castello Giunta, the Council voted to reject the proposal following a public vote.
