San Marino hosts ‘Sulle Orme di Roma’ historical reenactment

The Republic of San Marino is hosting the first edition of ‘Sulle Orme di Roma’, a historical reenactment event held on October 3 and 4 at Campo Bruno Reffi in the historic center. Organized by the cultural association Legio XIII Gemina – Rubico APS and supported by the Secretariat of State for Tourism, the event aims to provide an immersive educational and touristic experience regarding ancient Roman life.

Activities include military camps, gladiator duels, ritual dances, and interactive educational stations demonstrating ancient combat, weaponry, and daily life. The event has a strong educational component, with several middle schools and high schools participating in guided tours of the camps to experience history firsthand.

Officials noted the event's dual value as both a tourist attraction and a tool for collective memory. Alan Gasperoni, Special Secretary to the Secretariat of State for Tourism, highlighted the event's ability to ‘educate by entertaining,’ while Teodoro Lonfernini, Secretary of State for Education and Culture, emphasized the importance of hands-on historical learning for students.
