San Marino teachers honor deceased 18-year-old student

Teachers at the Liceo di San Marino have issued an open letter to honor the memory of Riccardo Gualtieri, an 18-year-old student who was found dead in his home in Verucchio on October 8.

The faculty described Gualtieri as a unique individual and a dedicated student who was preparing for his final year at the scientific high school. In their tribute, the teaching community highlighted his diverse passions for science, literature, philosophy, and music. They noted his intellectual interests, including his appreciation for authors such as Manzoni and his self-identification as an “absurdist” following Albert Camus.

His classmates and teachers expressed profound grief, remembering him as a special and irreplaceable person. His peers left tributes on his desk, describing him as a “misunderstood genius.”
