San Marino to hold supplementary citizenship knowledge test

San Marino will hold a supplementary test on Saturday, September 26, to assess applicants' knowledge of the nation's history and institutions. This session was organized due to a high volume of 170 registrants and serves as an additional date outside the standard April and November schedule established by the law of February 25, 2026.

Passing this test is a mandatory requirement for those seeking naturalization through the Civil Status, Demographic, and Electoral Services offices. The examination consists of 15 multiple-choice questions, and candidates must correctly answer at least 10 to pass.

The initiative aims to ensure that prospective citizens understand the civic context, values, and institutions of the Republic, allowing them to exercise their rights and duties with awareness. In the first testing session held on April 18, 140 out of 149 participants were deemed eligible.
