San Martino Siccomario: Toddler hospitalized with serious burns

An 18-month-old child is in serious condition at Niguarda Hospital in Milan after a domestic accident in San Martino Siccomario, near Pavia. The toddler suffered first and second-degree burns to the face, chest, and arms.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, August 20, when the child's mother was transporting a pot of hot water from the kitchen to another room. The child reportedly followed the mother and grabbed her clothing, causing her to lose her balance and spill the boiling water.

Neighbors responded to the mother's cries for help and assisted until emergency services arrived. Medical teams, including an ambulance, an emergency physician, and a helicopter, provided initial care and transported the child to the specialized burn center at Niguarda Hospital, where he has been admitted to the pediatric ward. Local Carabinieri investigated the scene and determined the event was a domestic accident with no criminal responsibility.
