San Miguel de Allende concludes patron saint festivities
San Miguel de Allende concluded its patron saint festivities with several large-scale cultural and religious events that drew approximately 26,663 attendees between October 2 and October 3. The celebrations included the traditional Alborada in the Historic Center, the San Miguel de Allende Fair, and a bullfight at Plaza Norte.
The Alborada featured a centennial tradition involving paper stars, band music, and fireworks, drawing roughly 8,000 people. Additionally, the entrance of Danzas, Ánimas, and Xúchiles saw over 12,000 spectators witness a three-hour procession of 80 local and visiting dance groups. This procession included the placement of Xúchiles, ceremonial structures reaching up to 12 meters in height.
Security authorities reported a “saldo blanco” (no major incidents) during the high-concentration events. While 29 people were referred to authorities for various administrative infractions, no significant security breaches or major incidents were recorded during the coordinated operations involving municipal, state, and federal agencies.
