San Miguel de Allende hosts major arts and gastronomy festivals

San Miguel de Allende is hosting major cultural and culinary events in August 2026. The Festival of the Arts (FASMA) is currently underway, running from August 7 to August 23. This year’s edition features France as the guest of honor and includes over 100 activities such as film screenings, art exhibitions like “La Parisienne,” and musical performances, including a large-scale rendition of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

Additionally, the city is preparing for the first edition of GEMA 2026, the International Week of Gastronomy, Enology, Mixology, and Art, scheduled for August 26 to 30. Organizers project that this event will attract more than 65,500 visitors, generate approximately 352 million pesos in economic impact, and reach a 70% hotel occupancy rate. The program will feature masterclasses, fashion shows, and culinary reinterpretations of traditional Guanajuato recipes by various chefs.
