San Miguel de Tucumán Council Calls Municipal Authorities to Address Building Safety Issues

The City Council of San Miguel de Tucumán voted to summon municipal officials to a joint meeting aimed at reviewing the administrative and safety conditions of collective‑housing buildings. The original resolution, which demanded an immediate preventive audit by the municipal executive led by Rossana Chahla, was amended after discussions with the mayor’s office. The revised text, approved unanimously, requests that the council’s president, Fernando Juri, set a date for the meeting and that municipal departments provide information on buildings identified in the 2018 irregularities survey, especially those pending final‑work or habitability approvals.

The council’s decision follows concerns raised after the Monteagudo 120 explosion and reflects a broader effort to evaluate possible regulatory and administrative adjustments to approval, inspection, regularisation, and completion procedures for collective‑housing projects.
