Municipalities in Argentina launch various public health and animal welfare programs
Several municipalities in Argentina are implementing diverse public health initiatives. In Lanús, the “Plazas Saludables” program will offer free medical check-ups, physical activities, and nutritional workshops in various public squares from October 13 to 16.
Animal welfare services are being expanded across multiple regions. In San Salvador de Jujuy, the Zoonosis Department is deploying a mobile operating room and conducting animal welfare operations, including vaccinations and deworming. In Morón, the “Ellos También Son Vecinos” program is providing free sterilization and rabies vaccinations. Additionally, local authorities in various districts are conducting decentralized Zoonosis operations to offer free castration and vaccinations in neighborhood plazas.
Efforts to combat mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and chikungunya are also underway. In San Miguel de Tucumán, the municipality is intensifying “descacharreo” (removal of potential breeding sites) and focal control operations across six neighborhoods. Similarly, the Capital municipality has scheduled a week-long preventive fumigation program covering numerous residential sectors to mitigate mosquito populations.
