San Miguel hosts controversial early childhood congress

The Mayor of San Miguel, Jaime Méndez, recently inaugurated the V International Congress of Early Childhood and Family. The event has drawn criticism regarding its ideological orientation and its perceived links to groups opposing Comprehensive Sexual Education (ESI).

Critics, including Yesica Suárez, have questioned the inclusion of representatives from 'Padres Unidos Argentina' in promotional materials. This organization is associated with the 'No autorizo' campaign, which seeks to leave decisions regarding sexual education content solely to individual families.

The municipality officially declared the congress of municipal interest via decree, authorizing the use of budget funds for the event. While the administration framed the congress as an interdisciplinary training opportunity for professionals and families, Mayor Méndez also linked the event to his administration's political identity, noting the participation of residents who have mobilized against the legalization of abortion.
