San Miguel launches S/ 2.8 million AI surveillance project
The San Miguel District Municipality has launched a S/ 2.8 million videovigilance project aimed at combating crime through high-technology cameras and artificial intelligence. The project, which has a 90-day execution period, is designed to detect criminal activities and facilitate faster responses from authorities.
Developed in coordination with the National Police and the Citizen Security Management, the system will monitor critical points including strategic avenues, markets, areas near the police station, and routes leading to Huancané and Cusco. The surveillance network will also cover the city’s second ring, Maravillas Avenue, and the populated center.
To complement the technological monitoring, the municipality will incorporate eight patrol vehicles into its security operations once administrative procedures are finalized. The monitoring center will feature a multi-screen system to allow operators to identify suspicious situations in real time.
