San Miguel mayoral race: Nine candidates face legal and financial scrutiny

Nine candidates are competing for the district mayoralty of San Miguel in San Román for the elections scheduled for October 4, 2026. The field includes candidates facing legal scrutiny and inconsistencies in their filings.

Among the applicants, Sixto Larico Quispe faces a legal complication regarding a sentence for family assistance obligations. Other candidates include Adolfo Abel Villalba Díaz, who previously faced exclusion from an election due to registration errors, and César Manuel Apaza Mamani, whose declared annual income of S/11,721 has raised questions relative to his professional background.

Other participants include Sara Ana Luque Pérez, a former congressional candidate, and José Edgardo Paredes Fernández, a civil engineer who reported the highest annual income among the group at S/84,000.
