San Miguelito Mayor calls for security plan after recent homicides

Irma Hernández, the mayor of San Miguelito, has called for a comprehensive security plan following a series of recent homicides in the district. The violence, which includes incidents in Villa Lucre and Santa Marta, ended a 15-day period during which no homicides had been recorded.

San Miguelito has recorded approximately 70 homicides so far this year. While Hernández noted that the recent 15-day lull was a significant achievement for local families, she warned that current measures, such as mobility restrictions in certain areas, are merely temporary palliatives rather than long-term solutions. She urged high-level security authorities to coordinate a sustained and integrated strategy to address the underlying violence in the region.
