Italian towns host a wave of summer festivals and patronal celebrations

Across Italy, dozens of towns are staging summer festivals and religious celebrations that draw thousands of visitors. In Sant'Antonio Abate, the Summer Fest organized by the municipal administration attracted about 40,000 attendees over five days, boosting local commerce and featuring performances by Francesco Gabbani, I Ricchi e Poveri and Baby K. Nearby Agerola faced controversy after the traditional FiordiFesta stalls were moved to a school courtyard, a change the parish clarified was made by municipal authorities.

Cultural events also include Garbagna’s “Libri in Scena” literary series, the inaugural Ponte Summer Festival in Benevento province headlined by young singer‑songwriter Kophra, and the Infiorata all’Uncinetto returning to San Salvo Marina with more than 120 crochet panels. In Bari’s Torre a Mare, traffic and parking bans were imposed for the San Nicola patronal festivities.

Other notable celebrations are Alife’s novena for Saint Sisto I, the Desbarassu de Loa fair in Loano, Trapani’s month‑long patronal program for Saints Alberto and the Madonna di Trapani, the San Fermo festival in Cassina de’ Pecchi, and the historic Sagra degli Abbà in Frossasco. A free concert by Andrea Sannino opened the Via Partenope Summer Tour in Casalnuovo di Napoli, while Trani highlighted children’s participation in the San Nicola Pellegrino events. Finally, the Paganella Festival Orme will offer trekking, workshops and concerts in the Dolomites from 9‑13 September.
