Bogotá offers 10,000 free pet sterilization slots in September

The District Institute for Animal Protection and Welfare (IDPYBA), through the Mayor's Office of Bogotá, has opened more than 10,000 free sterilization slots for dogs and cats throughout the month of September.

This mass campaign is primarily aimed at families in socioeconomic strata 1, 2, and 3, as well as animal protectors and caregivers of street animals. Surgical interventions will be conducted at the Animal Care Unit (UCA) and via mobile units traveling through various localities in the capital.

To access the service, owners must provide a copy of their ID and a recent utility bill. Eligible pets must be between 4 months and 8 years old and in good general health. Brachycephalic breeds, such as Pugs, Bulldogs, or Persian cats, are excluded from these mass sessions due to specific anesthetic risks.
