San Pablo de Borbur restricts nighttime mobility for minors
The Mayor's Office of San Pablo de Borbur has issued Municipal Decree No. 0052 of 2026, imposing a nighttime restriction on children and adolescents in public spaces. The measure prohibits minors from being in public areas between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. for an initial period of 90 days.
Government Secretary Catalina Lanchero stated the decision aims to reduce high rates of traffic accidents involving minors, particularly those related to motorcycles. The administration identified several risks, including illegal street racing, dangerous maneuvers, and unauthorized motorcycle competitions. The decree specifically prohibits minors from participating as drivers, passengers, or spectators in such activities.
Exceptions to the restriction include authorized sporting, cultural, artistic, or religious activities, permitted labor, healthcare, emergencies, and other justified displacements. During the 90-day period, municipal authorities will monitor road safety indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of the measure.
