San Pedro: Authorities seize unauthorized native timber
In a joint operation led by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, authorities seized 16 logs of native timber in San Pedro, Argentina. The intervention occurred near the Ingenio La Esperanza sugar mill following an early warning from the facility's security.
Technical teams from the Forest Directorate and the Arrayanal Forest Center, coordinated with provincial police, inspected approximately one hectare of land. The site showed signs of irregular activity, including the opening of access paths and the use of heavy machinery to clear soil and woody material.
The seized logs consist of ecologically valuable native species, including cebil, urundel, palo blanco, quebracho, and duraznillo. The materials have been moved to the Arrayanal Forest Center for safekeeping. The operation was conducted in response to violations of national and provincial laws regarding the protection and management of native forests.
