San Pedro Cholula mayor leads 2026 reforestation effort

Mayor Tonantzin Fernández of San Pedro Cholula inaugurated the First Reforestation Day 2026 on Cerro Zapotecas, planting about 500 trees with municipal ecology and environment staff. She announced additional planting sessions on the hill and urged community participation, emphasizing the area's importance as a natural lung for the state.

In San Andrés Cholula, municipal president Lupita Cuautle headed a school‑yard reforestation at Emiliano Zapata primary, where 276 trees of various species were planted. The event is part of a municipal program that aims to plant more than 30,000 trees across 17 planned sessions, bringing the total to over 33,000 trees donated and replanted. Officials highlighted the initiative’s role in improving air quality, creating recreational spaces, and fostering environmental responsibility among residents.

Both municipalities stressed ongoing commitment to expanding green areas, protecting natural heritage, and enhancing quality of life for local families.
