San Pedro Cholula reports 6.04% drop in high-impact crimes

High-impact crimes in San Pedro Cholula, Puebla, decreased by 6.04% during August 2026 compared to the previous month, according to official figures from the Fiscalía General del Estado de Puebla.

Significant reductions were noted in crimes against property, which fell by 12.15%. Specific decreases included a 56% drop in residential robberies, a 50% reduction in business robberies, and a 38% decline in vehicle theft. Crimes against sexual freedom and security also saw substantial declines, including an 86% decrease in sexual abuse and a 50% decrease in simple rape.

The local government, led by Mayor Tonantzin Fernández, attributed these results to security strategies and social proximity efforts. During the month, the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana de San Pedro Cholula attended 1,095 emergency calls and conducted 62 surveillance operations in various neighborhoods, alongside coordinated efforts with the Secretaría de Marina.
