San Pedro de Atacama communities receive environmental assessment training

Communities in San Pedro de Atacama are strengthening their ability to participate in environmental impact assessments through a new educational initiative. The month-long course, titled ‘Environmental Impact Assessment Processes’, is designed to provide residents, professionals, and community representatives with the technical knowledge required to engage informedly with project evaluations.

The program, known as Aula Salar, is a collaboration between Novandino Litio and the Universidad Católica del Norte. It offers free, certified training to bridge the gap between scientific/technical knowledge and the local community. The curriculum covers the functioning of the Environmental Impact Assessment System, citizen participation, impact identification, and sustainable development measures.
