Santa Fe proposed as Argentina’s National Capital of Sport
Following the South American Games 2026, national deputies in Argentina have introduced a project to declare Santa Fe the ‘National Capital of Sport’. The initiative highlights the province’s 150-year sporting history and the significant infrastructure improvements resulting from the games, which included over $90 million in investments for facilities in Rosario, Santa Fe, and Rafaela.
Local athletes from San Rafael have also received municipal recognition for their performances during the continental competition, including bronze medalist in canoeing Tais Trimarchi and shooting finalist Josefina Mella.
Additionally, the sporting legacy is being utilized through the ‘Santa Fe en Movimiento’ program, which currently hosts approximately 3,000 young athletes in provincial finals. These competitions utilize newly renovated venues, such as the High Performance Sports Center (CARD), to promote regional athletic development.
