San Rafael launches student literary contest to preserve local history
The San Rafael Deliberative Council has launched a literary contest titled ‘Historias que nos encuentran’ (Stories that find us) to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the legislative body. The initiative invites secondary school students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th years—as well as 6th year for technical schools—to research and preserve local histories.
Participants are encouraged to use books, documents, and oral testimonies from family members and neighbors to uncover stories from their districts that may have been forgotten or never recorded in formal texts. Rather than producing traditional research reports, students are tasked with creating literary narratives. The project aims to bridge the past with the present by incorporating the perspectives of modern adolescents regarding their communities and their vision for the future.
