San Rafael: One-year-old baby dies after falling into home swimming pool
A one-year-old baby died by drowning after falling into a swimming pool at a residence in San Rafael, Mendoza. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 5:00 PM on Sueta Street.
According to preliminary reports, the child managed to walk into the backyard independently before falling into the water. The mother attempted to rescue the infant and was assisted by a neighbor, who transported them to Hospital Schestakow. Despite medical efforts to resuscitate the child, the infant arrived without vital signs, and doctors were unable to reverse the situation.
Preliminary forensic examinations identified the cause of death as asphyxiation by immersion. Local authorities have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. Investigators were unable to take a statement from the mother immediately due to her severe emotional distress, relying instead on the testimony of the neighbor who provided transport to the hospital.
