San Rafael residents targeted by fraudulent job offers via WhatsApp

Residents in San Rafael are facing a series of fraudulent job offers delivered via WhatsApp. In one instance, scammers impersonated representatives from the company Arcor, using profiles labeled “RRHH” to contact potential victims. Investigations into these communications suggest the perpetrators may be operating from a prison in the Buenos Aires province.

The scams typically follow a pattern where victims are promised roles such as winery operators or farm maintenance workers. Once interested, victims are pressured to pay fees for purported requirements, including medical certificates, insurance, or registration costs. In one reported case, a family lost $20,000 after being told the funds were necessary for sanitary booklets and insurance.

Authorities and victims advise that legitimate companies do not request payments for employment processes. Residents are urged to verify all job offers through official corporate channels and to avoid sharing sensitive personal data, bank details, or identification documents with unverified contacts.
