San Roque hosts major community festivals, including 75‑year hermandad celebration and Blimea feast
The town of San Roque will see two large celebrations this week. In the nearby village of Blimea, a day‑long festival is scheduled for Friday, 7 August, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a floral offering to the "Ramu" in Plaza San Roque, followed by children’s games, a second‑hand book stall, photographic exhibitions, leather‑work displays and a time‑capsule dedication. The programme continues with a procession, a communal dinner, live music by the Pandereteres, and a midnight ceremony.
At the same time, the Hermandad de Fiestas de San Roque marks its 75th anniversary. President Ana Caride highlighted a special artisan market featuring about 25 craft stalls, food trucks offering crepes, arepas, ice‑cream and grilled meat, and traditional fare such as sardines and pulpo. The festivities include a public address, performances by local groups and a tribute to volunteers who have kept the tradition alive.
Both events emphasize local culture, community participation and the preservation of long‑standing traditions in San Roque.
