San Roque reports second hydrocarbon spill in one week
A second hydrocarbon spill has been reported at Puente Mayorga beach in San Roque within a single week. The environmental organization Verdemar Ecologistas en Acción reported that substances appearing to be hydrocarbons reached the bathing area around midday on Sunday.
This incident follows a similar occurrence days prior, which had previously prompted the San Roque City Council to request explanations from Moeve, the Algeciras Bay Port Authority, and the Junta de Andalucía. Following the latest sighting, Verdemar has called for strict monitoring and measures to prevent further leaks that could threaten bathers and the environment of the Algeciras Bay.
