San Salvador de Jujuy to build 24-meter cross on Cerro Las Rosas

The city of San Salvador de Jujuy has moved forward with the bidding process to construct a 24-meter-tall monumental cross on Cerro Las Rosas. The project aims to create a new landmark visible from various points across the city, serving as a symbol for religious devotees who participate in Holy Week pilgrimages.

Mayor Raúl Jorge stated that the project fulfills a commitment made to the late Father Luis, a strong advocate for the monument. The new structure is intended to replace the former ‘Cristo de la Hermandad,’ which disappeared due to the deterioration of its construction materials.

The cross will be constructed from metal and clad in aluminum panels to ensure durability and low maintenance. This monument represents the first phase of a larger urban intervention for the area, which will eventually include an entrance portal, grandstands, restrooms, and other services to improve conditions for visitors and pilgrims.
