San Salvador historic centre attracts $200 million private investment

The Authority of the Historic Centre of San Salvador reported that by the end of May 2026 approximately US$200 million in private investment has been directed to the downtown area. Around 50 new shops and branch offices have opened, a growth the authority attributes to improved security and fiscal incentives for investors. Director Adriana Larín said, “Security is the cornerstone that has allowed the development of the capital’s heart,” and noted that projects focused on housing, food, and culture are being prioritized under the tax‑benefit scheme.

The investment surge is expected to boost tourism and commerce in the city’s main historic and commercial district, creating further business opportunities for Salvadoran entrepreneurs.
