San Salvo begins environmental assessment for commercial building
Environmental assessments have begun for a large commercial building project in San Salvo, Italy. The Forum H2O water movement group has criticized the proposal, arguing that the development will replace olive groves with concrete.
According to the group, San Salvo has already reached a soil consumption rate of 33.8%, which is significantly higher than the regional average of 5% and the national average of 7%. Environmentalists warn that such urban expansion exacerbates heat island effects and disrupts local hydrology and ecological processes.
