San Salvo declares city mourning after fatal accident

The municipality of San Salvo has declared a period of city mourning following a fatal road accident that occurred during the night of September 3-4. The incident claimed the lives of 16-year-old Claudio Santavenere and his 23-year-old aunt, Annabella Cerbone. Claudio died at the scene, while Annabella passed away several hours later in the hospital.

Mayor Emanuela De Nicolis and City Council President Tiziana Magnacca issued the decree to express solidarity with local council member Carla Esposito, who is the mother of the teenager and sister of the deceased woman.

As part of the mourning period, flags on all public and municipal buildings will be flown at half-mast on the day of the funeral. Additionally, the local administration has canceled all scheduled events and festive gatherings for the coming days, including the highly anticipated inauguration of the San Salvo City Theater.
