San Sebastián Film Festival hosts 74th edition with major stars

The 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival is taking place from September 18 to 26, 2026, featuring 263 titles from 47 countries. The event serves as a major global gathering for the film industry, combining high-profile Hollywood glamour with significant auteur cinema.

Key highlights include the presentation of the Donostia Award to British actress Naomi Watts and German filmmaker Werner Herzog. Other major stars in attendance include Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, Penélope Cruz, and Ricardo Darín, who serves as the official poster star for this edition.

The competition features 17 films vying for the Golden Shell. Notable directors in the main competition include Mike Leigh, Pablo Larraín, Nicole Garcia, and Hans Petter Moland. Additionally, eight Ibero-American films are competing for the Spanish Cooperation Prize, which recognizes productions that contribute to social development and human rights.
