Mike Leigh wins Concha de Oro at San Sebastián Film Festival

The 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival concluded with British filmmaker Mike Leigh winning the Concha de Oro for his film ‘Tender Loving Care’. The award marks a significant moment for the 83-year-old director, who indicated that health issues may make this his final film.

Leigh also secured the award for best screenplay. Kate O’Flynn shared the Silver Shell for Best Actress with Asta Kamma August for her role in ‘Markens grøde’ (Growth of the Soil). Other notable winners include Oskar Dahlsbakken for Best Cinematography, Javier Cámara for Best Supporting Actor, and Ah Biao, whose debut ‘Border’ received the Special Jury Prize.

The festival also marked a leadership transition, as José Luis Rebordinos concluded his tenure, with Maialen Beloki set to take over leadership in 2027.
