San Sebastián has been recognized by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The publication highlighted the Basque city for its unique combination of urban elegance and natural landscapes, including its mountains and various beaches such as La Concha, Ondarreta, and the surf-friendly Zurriola.

Beyond its coastal scenery, the city is noted for its international gastronomic reputation, particularly its pintxo culture. Historical elements also define the city, such as the former Gran Casino building, which dates back to the Belle Époque era when the Spanish royal family frequented the area. While gambling was outlawed in Spain in 1924, the ornate building continues to serve as the city hall.
