San Valentino Torio facility suspended following labor and hygiene inspection
An inter-agency inspection in San Valentino Torio has resulted in the suspension of a fruit and vegetable processing facility. The operation, conducted by the State Police, Guardia di Finanza, Carabinieri, and the Salerno Territorial Labor Inspectorate, targeted labor exploitation, illegal work, and workplace safety.
Authorities identified one worker without regular employment and five non-EU workers, one of whom was subject to a residence obligation and a search order. The inspection revealed significant safety violations, including a lack of health surveillance and worker training, as well as the use of unauthorized surveillance cameras.
Furthermore, inspectors found serious hygienic deficiencies in the food processing areas, noting the presence of insects in contact with processed vegetables intended for packaging. The facility faces fines totaling 3,500 euros alongside the operational suspension.
