San Vicente de la Sonsierra building collapse linked to unknown cave
A building collapse in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, La Rioja, may have been caused by the discovery of an unknown cave located beneath a local bar. The mayor, Ramón Ramírez, stated that the existence of the cave was a surprise to the community and the building owner.
The incident occurred during a wine festival when approximately 50 people were inside the bar. Twelve individuals sustained injuries, though the mayor indicated they were not considered critical. The collapse caused the first floor of the building to sink onto the bar area. The mayor has declared the building in a state of ruin, and the owners will be required to demolish it completely.
