San Vicente de Paúl Residence adds psychological services

The San Vicente de Paúl Residence in Albacete, managed by the Diputación de Albacete, has implemented a new psychological care service for both residents and their families. The service aims to provide emotional support, intervention for cognitive decline, and assistance with adapting to the residential environment.

Francisco García, the provincial Deputy of Health, visited the facility to inspect the newly established classroom dedicated to these services. Accompanied by geriatrician Sergio Salmerón, García noted that the service has seen a positive reception since its launch. He emphasized that psychological care is a fundamental pillar for improving mental and cognitive health, reducing behavioral disorders and pharmaceutical reliance, and enhancing the overall quality of care.

The residence, which already holds an Advanced Level recognition from the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, is currently working toward achieving a Certificate of Excellence. The new psychological resource is designed to work in coordination with existing services to provide an integrated, individualized, and interdisciplinary model of care.
