San Vincenzo to receive 110 Ukrainian asylum seekers

Ukrainian refugees San Vincenzo Piombino asylum seekers accommodation transfer

The Prefecture has initiated the transfer of approximately 110 Ukrainian citizens seeking international protection from the Phalesia hotel in Piombino to the former Santa Caterina hotel in San Vincenzo. The move is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Prefect Giancarlo Dionisi informed the local administration that an agreement is already being finalized with the private owner of the property located on via Aurelia Nord. The municipality of San Vincenzo noted that it has no direct jurisdiction over this decision.

While expressing solidarity with those fleeing conflict, San Vincenzo Mayor Paolo Riccucci expressed perplexity regarding the sudden arrival of a large group of men, women, and children in a single facility. The Mayor emphasized the need for shared planning and adequate resources to ensure the accommodation process occurs under optimal conditions.
