San Vito al Torre to receive new roundabout for road safety

The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region has initiated the process to construct a new roundabout at the intersection of SR 252 and SR Ud 2 in San Vito al Torre. The project aims to improve road safety and reduce vehicle speeds at a four-way junction that has been the site of numerous accidents due to high traffic volumes and poor visibility.

Regional Infrastructure and Territory Councilor Cristina Amirante conducted a site inspection alongside Mayor Gabriele Zanin to review a study prepared by the municipal administration. The proposal seeks to replace the current level intersection with a roundabout to make merging maneuvers safer.

Regional councilors Rosaria Capozzi (M5S) and Furio Honsell (Open Sinistra Fvg) expressed support for the safety improvements but used the announcement to call for the definitive cancellation of the previously proposed Palmanova-Manzano bypass. They argued that investing in existing road safety is more effective than pursuing the older, controversial project involving the urbanization of rural areas.
