Sanaa airport flight discrepancies spark UN transparency concerns

Academic Abdulqader Al-Kharrat, head of the ‘We Will Not Be Silent’ campaign, has raised allegations of a lack of transparency regarding United Nations-managed flights to Sanaa International Airport, which is under Houthi control.

Al-Kharrat reported that while official UN schedules indicated only one flight for Wednesday, September 2, field monitoring and radar tracking recorded three separate aircraft landings. He noted suspicious activity, including the intentional disruption of tracking signals and a ‘hidden landing’ involving an Airtec aircraft (ZSSNJ) that appeared to use an undisclosed landing site rather than the main runway.

The tracked flights included one associated with Doctors Without Borders and another with the Red Cross. Al-Kharrat stated that the discrepancy between official records and actual field movements places the international organization in a position of accountability before the Yemeni public and the international community.
