Sanaa International Airport sees unusual air traffic spike

Unusual air traffic was recorded at Sanaa International Airport on August 19, with five aircraft arriving in a single day, marking the highest daily volume in approximately 11 months.

Analysis of flight tracking data indicates that two of the five flights were chartered by the United Nations, arriving from Djibouti to support humanitarian operations. A Beechcraft 1900D aircraft associated with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) was also identified operating between Djibouti, Sanaa, and Aden.

Three of the aircraft did not broadcast identification data while entering Yemeni airspace, leading to unverified rumors regarding the transport of Iranian officials, military experts, or technical equipment. However, there is currently no confirmed evidence to support claims of Iranian involvement or military cargo. The heightened scrutiny follows previous controversies involving Mahan Air flights in July, which the Yemeni government and U.S. officials had previously linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
