Sanandaj launches joint market inspection initiative
Authorities in Sanandaj have launched a six-month joint market supervision initiative involving 17 inspection teams. The program aims to protect consumer rights and organize the local market by monitoring approximately 35,000 business units.
Sanandaj Governor Gharib Sajjadi stated that the teams, which include inspectors and health department representatives, will target issues such as price gouging, short-changing, hoarding, and violations of hygiene standards. The initiative follows a cabinet resolution and aims to address public grievances regarding the cost of living.
Arsalan Azhari, Deputy for Economic Coordination of the Kurdistan Province, emphasized that inspections will be tailored to the 17 different trade unions in the district. He noted that the teams will initially use an advisory and warning approach, with legal action and case filings reserved for persistent or serious violations.
