Sanclerlândia Mayor Zé Gordo joins MDB, leaving PSDB

The mayor of Sanclerlândia, Zé Gordo, has officially left the PSDB to join the MDB, the party of Governor Daniel Vilela. The move aims to align the municipality with the state government to ensure the continuity of local projects.

While the affiliation consolidates Zé Gordo’s support for Vilela’s political group, local analysts suggest the shift may have limited impact on the existing political landscape in Sanclerlândia. The city maintains a strong political base tied to former Governor Marconi Perillo, a connection spanning over four decades. Former mayor Itamar Leão, a PSDB member, noted that despite the mayor's change in party, the local power structure remains largely intact, supported by the current vice-governor and two-thirds of the city's council members.
