Sanctuary established for Blessed Michael McGivney in Poland
A new sanctuary dedicated to Blessed Michael McGivney has been established in Poland, marked by a thanksgiving Mass led by Monsignor Stanisław Pindera. The event in Radom highlighted McGivney’s legacy as a model for both families and clergy.
Father Wiesław Lenartowicz noted that McGivney’s pastoral approach, which anticipated the reforms of the Second Vatican Council, serves as a guide for modern priests facing contemporary challenges. The ceremony also acknowledged a reported miracle involving the healing of a child in the womb through McGivney’s intercession.
McGivney, an Irish immigrant in 19th-century America, is recognized for founding the Knights of Columbus to provide social and financial security for Catholic families. His life, characterized by overcoming material hardship to pursue the priesthood, is viewed by local clergy as a symbol for those seeking religious vocations through diverse life experiences.
