Sand Hill chef remanded on unlawful sexual intercourse charges

Sherise Shelmadine Moralez, a 37-year-old chef from Mile Nineteen on the Philip Goldson Highway, has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison following charges of unlawful sexual intercourse. The allegations involve a 15-year-old boy and stem from two alleged incidents occurring on July 30.

During her court appearance before the Chief Magistrate, Moralez’s attorney, Orson ‘OJ’ Elrington, requested bail, arguing that the specific legal provision cited refers to carnal knowledge of a girl rather than a boy. The prosecution opposed the request, stating the court lacked the authority to grant bail for these indictable charges. The Chief Magistrate denied bail, noting it could be reconsidered after 90 days if Moralez is unsuccessful in seeking bail from the High Court.

The investigation began after the minor and his mother reported the matter to the Ladyville Police Station on August 6. Moralez was detained on August 23 and denied the allegations during an interview. She is scheduled to return to court on November 16 for the disclosure of evidence.
